Wise Action within our World requires both Knowledge and Understanding. Ability of Understanding is the key virtue of Principle and may be developed by exercising True Principles upon essentially accurate knowledge. This use of understanding upon knowledge will result in Wisdom. Much of this generated Wisdom will compose Right-Action in this world, and much will renourish our Foundation of Knowledge thereby improving our understanding’s ability to generate ever more effective Wisdom. It is a Virtuous Cycle. This process when consciously applied to learning and problem solving is known as “The Trivium” and has been employed since time immemorial to improve the situation of mankind here in The World.
All consciously driven progress must needs proceed from actual Knowledge. The determination of the validity of a Source of Knowledge is known as Epistemology. Though few people are aware of this obscure study, our standard for epistemology is in direct proportion to our quality of life. If our sources of knowledge are directed by those wishing to control our thoughts, we will find that our thoughts and feelings, minds and actions are easily controlled. It pays to consider carefully our sources of knowledge as few are epistemologically perfect. However remember that a Venerable Sage may learn much from the ramblings of a Fool, while a Fool might audit a thousand scholarly lectures without learning anything. Learning is an active process and it promotes the Wisdom necessary for humanity to improve our aggregate as well as individual lots in life. Attend well to epistemology; conscious improvement requires knowledge.
