Watch “The Psychology of Depression – How to Ruin Your Life” on YouTube

This production, from “Academy Of Ideas”, stands out and merits attention not only because of the level of overall excellence their fans, myself included, have become accustomed to; we have come to take their wisdom and skill “for granted”, so to speak. These guys are good.

In this episode, just at eight minutes we encounter a specific quote which I see as expressing a basic metaphysical truth. When I encounter this type of thing, I’m going to start pointing it out. The quote is this true gem from The Stoic School of Thought and Philosophy: “The object of your love is mortal; it is not one of your possessions; it has been given to you for the present, not inseparably, nor forever.” (Epictetus, The Discourses).

I think be did pretty good there, Epictetus I mean. What do you think? Do you think that you ever allow the loss of something which could never be yours affect your state of consciousness and therefore affect the dynamic which you interject into the World around you? Hmmm? How about other people within your awareness? Sometimes it really helps me to realize, know and understand that I am am Eternal Being, much-like celestial in my essential nature. We all are. This Place is absolutely mortal. It is now, right now, and at every moment kept in being by the Principle of Vibration which describes the coming and going of every manifestation of every thing as it exists here, now and on the wave crest formed by every here@now which has ever been. Life comes and goes here, but it is not of This Place.

Think on that, then consider a “much-like this” physical principle which would express that nothing of this Universe, may ever be property of an Eternal Soul such as a Human Being. I think that the understanding of this one thing would exponentially increase the amount of Gratitude and, hopefully, the Appreciation realized by every individual possessed of it. Yes, oddly enough, nothing of This Place can ever be among our properties, but the wisdom imbued by this knowledge and understanding is one of our properties, once we’ve spent time and paid attention necessary to acquire it.

This is the first of this type of post. We’ll see how it goes. I really should have published this in my blog, guerrillaguru.net and would have, except that I had hoped to get it into my test page, just to see what it looked like, and to find out what I could do to improve the presentation before posting. You may find it there, after a while, in both places. I plan to use this pair of blogs more as I learn what is possible here.

Thanks for your time. You would be correct in assuming that i went on to study up a bit more I Epictetus and the Stoic view concerning the transient nature of reality. I suggest that you do so, too, but I especially suggest that you subscribe to the YouTube channel, Academy Of Ideas. Ill try to post a link here to their channel home page. Like I said, I don’t know yet what is possible within the use of this Android app which may be my only option to manage this blog, pair of blogs, while on the go. I’m always on the go, and I’m always around, and around, and around. See you ’round.
