This doesn’t surprise me at all and I would bet that it happens much more often than any of us would imagine. Unmarked police cars probably get burgled proportionally with the same frequency as civilian autos parked in driveways or parking lots. If anything, one should expect that a police issue vehicle might receive some special targeting along with its fair share of random victimization. This truth retains its veracity at all times, even when it is compounded by other factors. This causal complication may result is quite unexpected situations and eventualities.

I plan to revisit this article, using it as a source to prove that police are victimized just as much as other cross-sections of humanity. Police offices are also perpetrators of crime, especially violent crime, at least as often as any other group of people, but that is another line of thought. For the moment let us consider the truth that police officers, even highly trained FBI Agents, “lose” their weapons to criminals every so often. **It happens.

This article shows that theft from police is a real occurrence. If the ownership of firearms by common citizenry is banned, or even strictly regulated this crime becomes something which will prove to be a very dangerous situation. The worst of the criminals, those who victimize police, will have an absolute hands down control of every bit of territory which is not actively guarded by a heavily armed police officer.

In America today armed citizens stop and foil more crime than police officers. When you need a cop immediately, the police are only a phone call and a few minutes away. If the crime is stopped it usually stopped by someone on the scene. We do much better when the violent criminals know that we are watching each other’s backs. Chicago, with its soaring gun-murder rate and high crime can serve well as an example of a gun-free environment.

As I said, this article will come in handy as reference later. It doesn’t merit a rant here and now, though. What sucks is that I can’t even take the shallow pleasure of laughing at the bumbling authority figure who “lost his weapon when he tried to use his gun” so to speak. She took his pistol, but not his load…etc, etc… Feel free to add anything truly witty in the comments, that’s the best I can do.

I mean to close this on a different note. You see, I’m considering the reality of the import of this article: Another weapon in the hands of the dark-side; I’m just glad that I am, right now, surrounded by the proportionally most well armed population in America. Armed citizens keep us all safe.

I thank my Lucky Stars that a very large percentage of the people around me carry pistols; I wish there were more.
